Peter Vogel, VMD, DACVS
Peter Vogel, VMD, DACVS graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. He completed a Small Animal Surgical internship at the California Animal Hospital and a Small Animal Surgical residency at the University of California, Davis.
Practicing in Southern California for over 32 years, Dr. Vogel has been the co-medical director, and founder/senior partner of hospitals located in Fountain Valley, CA and Irvine, CA. And currently, the founder of the “Veterinarian owned, Pet approved,” Animal Orthopedic Center located in Anaheim, CA.
Dr. Vogel is the past President of the Southern California Veterinary Medical Association and was a Governor for the California Veterinary Medical Association, representing Los Angeles and Orange County, CA. He also is a recipient of the Dan Mahan Award for Excellence in Veterinary Medicine.
As a board-certified veterinary surgeon, and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, Dr. Vogel has almost 35 years of experience in clinical practice, as well as teaching veterinary students and training interns and residents.

- Cart based anesthesia, so the equipment and monitors travel with the patient, no disconnecting and interrupting anesthesia during transport
- Fluid line warmers to prevent hypothermia

- Multi-modal anesthesia, including CRI’s to minimize anesthetic risk
Our pain management protocols are at the highest levels.
- We use class II narcotics with most surgery (hydromorphone, Fentanyl, hydrocodone) instead of the more common, less effective class III
- All patients receive Nocita, which provides 72 hours of complete local analgesia
- Most patients receive NSAIDs with surgery, which decrease inflammation and pain
No infectious disease or sick patients.
- All of our procedures are only performed on healthy animals
- We do not house infectious or sick patients in our facility
- Our ORs are not used for surgeries where contamination occurs
- All patients receive a new, sterile endotracheal tube with general anesthesia. We do not reuse tubes between patients
